| John and his wife, Kim Pfautz are best known to this community for their previous business: restoring and operating a Hood River Valley farmhouse as The Beryl House Bed & Breakfast where they welcomed visitors to this area for thirteen years. |
| “Along with the satisfactions of building our own successful business has been the pride in watching the business association we started grow and thrive today”, said Lovell. In 1992, he invited competing b & b’s in the area to market themselves as the Hood River Bed & Breakfast Association and to serve as volunteers answering calls on The Roomfinder, a free lodging locator hotline. |
| Previous to moving to Hood River, Lovell chose other dynamic jobs and beautiful and interesting places to live: a country real estate salesperson in the Hudson Valley, rebuilding sailboats in the Virgin Islands, a builder in Vermont, and a television production manager in San Francisco at the PBS station, KQED. |
| “ It is an odd collection of work that brought me to this time in my life but I suppose a common theme is the helping of others to realize their visions. That will also be my role in my new ventures in real estate sales with Windermere,” said Lovell.
He continued to say: “This place, Hood River and The Gorge, combine the best elements of the best places I have called home. And as a setting that supports a well rounded lifestyle and offers such possibilities for quality of life, I believe it is unsurpassed. It is why my business slogan is ‘rational exuberance”.
